The ultimate list of the best things to do in London

Big Ben & Parliament

Let’s start with one of London’s main landmarks, Big Ben and the House of Parliament. It’s one of the must-see sights on any trip to London. If you’re lucky or organized, try to get there when the bell rings!

Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace is the iconic home of the English royal family in London. It’s a must-see during your stay in London. If the royal flag is flying, it means the King is inside the building! If you’re lucky, you might even see him.

Several times a week, you can watch the changing of the Royal Guard. This usually happens around 11 a.m.

Piccadilly Circus

Piccadilly Circus is London’s most famous crossroads. Between the statue in the middle of the square, the advertising boards and the typically London architecture, discovering Piccadilly Circus is an activity not to be missed in London.

Covent Garden

This is the place to go if you’re feeling a little hungry when you’re exploring central London. Covent Garden was once one of the UK’s busiest markets. Today, it’s home to many restaurants and street performers.

The Soho district is the perfect place to go out or have a beer after a long visit. Soho is also home to a wide variety of restaurants. It’s a lively neighborhood that’s well worth a visit.

Tower Bridge

The ultimate symbol of London, in my opinion, Tower Bridge. We’ve all seen pictures of it. Seeing Tower Bridge in the flesh is something else again. I advise you to see it from St. Katherine’s Quays. The view of the bridge is breathtaking.

Sky Garden

It’s one of my favorite things to do in London. Watching a city from above is an incredible experience. The Sky Garden offers this experience without spending a penny. However, it’s highly recommended to book your tickets in advance!

Red phone boxes

Red telephone boxes are the quintessential emblem of the United Kingdom. There are still many of them on the streets of London. Some have become cash dispensers, others book boxes, but they remain an important symbol. Have fun and take the best photo you can!

London Eye

Another way to get some height during your stay in London is to take a tour of the London Eye. The tour lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. The view of London’s sights is impressive and magnificent.

Notting Hill

Notting Hill is London’s slightly posh district. But not only that, it’s also a paradise for fans of Instagram or colorful houses. At first glance, it was a place I didn’t much like. But after walking around the neighborhood, I began to appreciate the style and atmosphere of Notting Hill. I’ll let you make up your own mind!

Tasting scones

The best place to eat scones is in Notting Hill. Scones are small cakes originally from the United Kingdom. They are usually served with jam or lemon curd. This is one of the best things to do during your stay in London if you are a food addict (like me) !

China Town

Although London’s China Town is a little smaller than New York’s, it’s still a great place to discover London. You’ll find plenty of Asian restaurants and bars where the food’s great!

Carnaby Street & Oxford Street

If you’re in the mood for shopping, then head to Carnaby Street and Oxford Street. These are my two favorite places to store in London. On Carnaby Street, you’ll find more original boutiques by small designers. On Oxford Street, you’ll find the big names.

St-James Park

Located close to Buckingham Palace, St-James Park is the perfect place to get some fresh air and relax for a few minutes. St-James Park is also home to many animals and birds, including the famous place where pigeons land on you! Well, I didn’t find it, but I did see a lot of animals.
